Italy to Japan space agencies - low throughput
PTS Case 26
Synopsis
The European Space Agency in Italy ran data transfer tests between its site near Rome (ESA-ESRIN) and Japan Space Agency (JAXA). The goal was to measure the achievable TCP data transfer rates between the two space agencies. The first iperf tests results looked disappointing (from 7.5 to 14 Mbits/s), even allowing for the long and asymmetric path and the huge number of network crossed.
Although these initial results were brought to the attention of the PERT, ESA deferred further help until they had analyzed the results. If at that stage they needed PERT assistance they would open a new case.
