eduroam Apps
eduroam provides several apps through the Google and Apple app stores to make the use of eduroam more convenient.
eduroam Companion
The eduroam Companion app provides a global map of eduroam hotspots on your phone as provided by the eduroam operators worldwide. It allows you to view them on the map (default), get directions to the nearest eduroam access point or share the information to other apps.
eduroam Companion is currently not available on Huawei AppGallery, but you can side-load it from reputable app stores. It is deeply integrated with Google Play APIs and will have a degraded user experience on Huawei phones that do not use Google Play.
geteduroam
The geteduroam app provides an easy way to set up your device for eduroam using the eduroam CAT profile for your organisation. More information about geteduroam is at its home page and here. Also see the Jisc information page about geteduroam here.
eduroam CAT app
The eduroam CAT app is geteduroam's predecessor. It provides an easy way to set up your Android device with an eduroam CAT profile. It is no longer maintained and is recommended only for Android versions before Android 8.

1 App displays an erroneous message, but configuration is successful. Check Wi-Fi Settings for connection
2 App requires Google Play Services, map not available. Sharing to Petal Maps possible.
3 Map functionality limited to display only. Sharing to Google Maps Go (Chrome app) possible.
4 First load takes several minutes and occasionally stalls/times out. Subsequent loads much faster.
5 Does not work with private certificate authorities. Bug acknowledged by Apple, considered fixed in iOS 15.2.
6 Android 12 and beyond applies strict security checks to certificates on Wi-Fi profiles. See EAP Server Certificate considerations for more information.
