The Pilot platform services as a staging area for our services. We use it to test and deploy new services, and to test these with (limited) groups of users/communities.
The Pilot platform is not considered a production facility, however, enough attention should be paid to operational aspects, including security, updates and deploy ability of the software. We should also try to make sure we use methodologies that are compatible with what can be expected when this service should be deployed in a production facility.
