Linux perf

perf is a comprehensive profiling system for Linux. It is also known as Performance Counters for Linux (PCL) or Linux perf_events (LPE). It provides access to performance counters including low-level hardware counters as well as tracepoints (supported by the kernel's ftrace infrastructure) for dynamic tracing similar to DTrace.
