The goal of the demo – Why –
The goal of this event is to periodically present the results of current Incubator activities in order to collect feedback from the community as early as possible. As this is our half-time demo, we will showcase intermediate results from this cycle, while also previewing potential topics for the next. It’s the perfect opportunity to get the latest updates on a variety of topics in a short amount of time—and to weigh in.– When –
The demo will take place on Zoom on Thursday, 5 June 2025, from 16:00 to 18:00 CEST.

Over 600 scientific papers have been retracted in recent years due to fraudulent peer review using puppet reviewer accounts. In such cases, authors manipulated the editorial process to review their own work. Other forms of identity-related academic fraud are also on the rise. While some say such misconduct is inevitable, we believe our Trust & Identity community can offer meaningful solutions. We will present experimental methods for researcher vetting, including integration with the widely-used Open Journal Systems (OJS) editorial platform. |

| 16:30–17:00 | OID4VCI Verifiable Credential Issuer Implementation in Shibboleth and SimpleSAMLphp The IdP software solutions mentioned above power the majority of identity providers at academic institutions. These institutions manage a wealth of verified user data—personal attributes, official documentation to academic records and affiliations—making them ideal Verifiable Credential sources. The T&I Incubator team will present its proof-of-concept and native OID4VCI implementations for both IdPs. These will be available with nice UX on the IdP user profile pages, a product of earlier incubator cycles. We'll also share lessons learned around changing specification versions and wallet compatibility. |

| 17:00–18:00 | OIDFed (Two Related Topics in One Time Slot) We’ll explore two interconnected OIDFed topics during this extended session. In this cycle, the Incubator aimed to identify potential gaps in the OIDFed specifications and tooling that might hinder implementation by national federations with limited resources. We’ll share our findings and outline our future roadmap. A major area of focus is discovery in the OIDFed ecosystem. We'll present our collaborative proof-of-concept developed with SeamlessAccess as well as our efforts to have OIDFed discovery standardized |
