Why GÉANT Future Talent Programme?

Bringing together young professionals and networking community

At GÉANT , we believe it is crucial for IT firms to engage with, foster , developing and develop future IT professionals. This sentiment holds true now, more than ever, as the sector undergoes a period of considerable growth, and we find ourselves faced with a growing shortage of talentWe As we are committed to contributing to the up-skilling of Europe’s future IT workforce, and bridging the gap between the supply and demand of talent - particularly in the areas of research. This is why we have set up the GÉANT Future Talent Programme.

The Future Talent Programme is a GÉANT community initiative which aims to attract and support the young talents our community needs to grow and achieve our long-term objectives. Designed and executed by GÉANT Learning and Development (L&D) we provide coaching and learning to young talents across our community with engaging activities and programmes adding up to their academic studies.

What can FTP do for students?

Students will be able to develop their professional skills working, connecting and interacting with the GÉANT community and other recipients across Europe and as such develop employability skills and strengthen their CVs.

What can FTP do for NRENs?

Our approach enables NRENs to play a major role in developing young people’s skills and inspire their fresh thinking and great ideas. By participating in the Future Talent Programme, NRENs can strengthen the relation with their universities and other educational institutions, motivate high quality talents and get them excited about their research and education networking.

Within the Future Talent Programme, Learning and Development offers two initiatives. Both are targeting TNC18, an international conference for global networking professionals, and both are made possible through a collaboration between GÉANT L&D, GÉANT project partners, young professionals and TNC Programme Committee.

Initiative 1: Lightning Talk Challenge - Get on Stage!

gateway to young professionals to meet the European and global networking community. The Programme offers young professionals an opportunity to grow and develop their skills through free webinar series, internships or coaching. Furthermore, it rewards the learning by offering free admission to international, prestigious events to those, whose work was recognised by an independent panel.

The GEANT learning and Development teams up with GEANT project partners to reach out and mentor young talented professionals to participate in one of our initiatives. Since the start in 2017 the Future Talent Programme had participation from 22 NREN, featuring 44 bright and young professionals. The programme is funded by the GEANT Project.

We invite you to join us.  Initiative 2: Poster Pursuit - Clarify your message! Visualise the meaning!
