Description

It is important to know when you are broadcasting audio and who is broadcasting audio / talking. Indicators in AC are not good enough in that respect. Often speakers do not notice that they have not activated their microphone, and you have to look carefully or know the voice of individuals well to know who is talking. Make the little loudspeaker icon beside in the participant list more reliable. Sometimes you see speaker waves even when you don't hear anything, or the contrary. Improving the indicators in the camera pod would also help, e.g., name in red when speaking.

Better active speaker indicators and general sound level indicators.

Regarding active speaker indicators: We need an indicator that activates only when a person is taking, and not just when the microphone is "open". Next, we need an indicator that is always present in the meeting interface, and not hidden away in a long list in the attendee pod. The indicator should be voice activated. In some applications the video is voice activated - this is also known from traditional video conferencing. Here all attendees are sure about who is talking, but not all attendees use video. Another option would be to show the speakers names in top of the attendee list.

Regarding sound level indicators: Sound level could be more apparent with better sound level indicators. The present sound level indicator is difficult to see.

Reason:

Often you have to know the voice of an attendee to know, who is talking, and often the speaker is not aware, if the microphone is deactivated. This is important for effective virtual meetings.
