ADD INFORMATION ABOUT THE EVENT

Faced with challenges to maintain an appropriate level of existing ICT services and to adopt new ones, many end institutions (e.g., university campuses, schools, etc.) in different European countries have started to ask NRENs to manage parts of their ICT infrastructure (wired LAN, WiFi, some specific services).

Such initiatives present a change in the way NRENs have operated to date and put additional pressure on NREN resources.  This is why an initial group of NRENs have gathered under the WP6T3 subtask called CNaaS (Campus Network as a Service) to discuss the technical and organisational aspects of managing end-institution networks.

The aim of the Workshop on Network Management and Monitoring is to explore and discuss the following topics:

  • organising management for end-institutions (managing the whole network, or some part of it like WiFi, or specific services like email, radius servers,...)
  • tools for end-institution management
  • monitoring end-institution networks
  • automating management functions (in the NREN and in the end-institutions when their infrastructure is managed by the NRENs)
