In case you visit GitLab for the first time your account need to be created first. User registration can be done in 3 2 main ways.

1. By Invitation. In this case an already registered user (with right privileges) will create you an account. Soon after an email should arrive at your address with a link to click and login.
After clicking New User another window will be shown to fill required information like: Name, Username, Email, Access Level, Avatar ect. At the end click Create User.
2. By Federation Authentication. By Federation Authentication (SSO). This is only possible if you have an account provided by an Identity Provider on which GitLab has permission to ask authenticating users. This is when you are GÉANT Project member).

32. By requesting access for collaborator from outside GN GÉANT Project. See How to invite people from outside GN4-3 project guide. To invite a person (or people) who is not the GN4-3 member but is going to take part in collaborative software development, please follow the steps bellow:
- Go to Software Tools HelpDesk to create an ticket.
- Choose Permissions category than Grant permissions as issue type.
- Provide information about new collaborator: Name, Surname, E-mail, NREN/organization new collaborator belongs to.
GitLab administrator will create accounts on your behalf for all verified people outside the GÉANT project. After that new collaborator will get an e-mail with link to setup password and will be able to log in to GitLab using local their account with Standard login option.
