Our community developed T&I services to support processes in the R&E sector and - since research and education are borderless - scaled them globally. We started on unchartered territory and did initially - well over a decade or two - not get much attention from other sectors. Let's call this our "Garden V1.0". But this changed in recent years: T&I services are becoming a fashionable topic, new paradigms emerge and promises are made to scale such T&I services across all sectors and regions. This asks for new governance structures and muscles are shown, but the roles for big tech, governments, and other players are still up for debate or fight.
But what should be our vision for our "Garden V2.0" under such new conditions? Which options do we have? Which one(s) to pick? Let's take the challenge!
Starting on uncharted territory, we build a garden, it grows nicely, it serves us well, we care for it
No one cares, they are not interested in it, they prefer cars, buildings, but not gardens
We continue to cater for the garden, we set up paths to better serve us, we agree on rules to protect the garden, we organise community work to improve the garden
The neighbours start to get interested in gardening, gardening rules are getting established, plans for new gardens are presented everywhere, gardening experts create gardening concepts, it's becoming a fashionable topic, PoCs are created to get a feeling of what a garden could look like, but no one outside of our community notices our already existing garden
