Steering Committee elections are coming up. Current members were asked to consider to nominate themselves for another term.
Service Team Overview
Discussion on the mailing list about the security contact resulted in 8 new contacts. 61/83 members responded. The support team will start proactively follow up with the missing federations.
eduGAIN CSIRT
Communication challenge. The team randomised the sending of the original email to level the playing field.
Openbugbounty reached out and the team investigated the issue, but nothing was found.
Improvement of the feed by load balancing the aggregate and make back-ups from two different sites, PCSS (Poland) and GARR (Italy) planned for end of 2025 or early 2026.
OpenID Federation Pilot and Technology Profiles Working Group:
Participation is good. The goal is to define a new protocol in eduGAIN.

Security contacts - see above.
Annual audit - not the right time. Review the security contacts process.
Review of the SAML profile. Privacy notice, support contacts assurance, security contacts. This activity is part of the Technology Profiles Working Group. Results are expected mid-2026.
The challenge is to measure the requirements technically.
Membership applications
NgREN IF (Nigeria) - assessment deadline 28 Nov.
BotsREN (Botswana) - first assessment ongoing
eduID.ml (Mali) - idem
CAFMoz (Mozambique) - The federation is onboarding new IdPs and are almost ready to kick-off the candidate process.
Earlier this year some potential candidates from the APAN region reached out expressing their interest to join eduGAIN. These initiatives didn't result in a formal application. Some discussion is needed to learn how eduGAIN business development and the secretariat could support these initiatives better.
OmanKID - technically suspended.
