This training session is kindly provided by SURFnet in the SIG-Marcomms meeting hosted by EENet in Tallinn, Estonia on 27-29 September 2016.

1 hour training within a half day focus on blogging

How can Marcomms professionals help their technical colleagues to produce blogs that are engaging, well written and achieve their goal of sharing news or providing thought leadership? How does this kind of community blogging fit into an organisation's communications strategy, and what are the benefits of non-Marcomms staff communicating in this way?

Using a combination of simple overviews and quick-fire mini assignments, this session will equip participants to prepare for, structure, write and promote a community or technical blog.

Content:

This session will:
1) provide some basic blogging tips and training for the meeting participants;
2) gather participants' feedback about the training experience and how it can be improved for our community;
3) provide input for developing a blogging training resource that can be made more generally available to our community;
4) provide further points for discussion within SIG-Marcomms about the value of blogging in our community.
