COVID-19: SUPPORTING RESEARCH ENGAGEMENT GLOBALLY

This Q&A style discussion will explore how NREN MarComms can support NREN research engagement activities globally, including TF-RED and GREG. As an example, the activities of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) will be introduced. We will look at ways we can work together, including on supporting the push for open access to data that can help COVID-19 research (or other scenarios).

Discussion led by Jane Gifford (AARNet)

Guests: Carina Kemp, AARNet Director eResearch; Chris Atherton, GEANT Research Engagement Officer; Priyanka Pillai, Researcher and Research Data Alliance COVID-19 WG member.

COVID-19: LESSONS LEARNED & CHALLENGES TO FACE

  • Are we all still in crisis mode or a 'new normal'? What does this mean for marcomms activities and pressures at the moment?
  • Are there any additional lessons learned since we last met, about handling the crisis phase / adapting to a new normal / returning to an 'old normal'? Which of these scenarios do you think we will be living in once the pandemic is over?
  • Last time we agreed "start preparing already for the economic crisis to follow" - has anyone started? How?
  • What other challenges with the current pandemic are people still facing / anticipating?
  • What practical steps can we take individually / collectively to share the burden &/or show our value?
Discussion led by Naira Kocharyan (ASNET-AM)
