To help you prepare for the Learning Needs Assessment meeting, we advise you to consider the following questions. It is useful to keep in mind your team, the project collaboration, competition, innovation and industry trends when thinking about these questions.

 

BIG PICTURE QUESTIONS

  • What does your Work Package is set to achieve this year?
  • How do you expect training will relate to achieving these results?

  • What external factors need to be considered when working towards your goals? Think of competition, innovation, industry trends?

  • What internal factors need to be considered when working towards your goals? Team collaboration, team knowledge skills homogeneity, time constraints?

UNDERSTAND THE CURRENT PERFORMANCE

  • What knowledge and skills do your team members need to be successful?
  • What kind of projects/activities/tasks are most difficult? Where do things break or stop?
  • What is it that you would like to be able to do? How does this translate into knowledge/skills?


FUTURE NEEDS

  • What does the future look like in your environment?
  • Are there any new ideas, methods, processes or challenges on the horizon?
  • What skills or knowledge needs do you foresee for your Work package in the future?


TRAINING REQUESTS TO SUBMIT

  • Which training requests do you want to submit?
  • Who should be taking part in the programme and why?


FOCUS ON EVALUATION

  • How will you know that the training worked? How will you measure the desired outcomes?
  • How will we know that the program has been effective?
