eduTEAMS

Are there any changes to messaging towards NRENs for GN5-1?

Information on the restructure of the service requested for comms. Maarten will get in touch with Christos.
Research EngagementDataSpaces and EuroHPC.

Could we coordinate activities?

For research institutions engagement, explaining federated identity/webSSO/attribute based authorization, ie. the basics, is still very necessary and probably fruitful. The cost and time getting these last outliers (the long tail) will always be higher.

AOB

  • RENATER Visit Briefing
    • New participant in T1.
    • Christos is talking to RENATER.
  • In general for all services what messages need pushing out
    • Development within the services that would affect the NRENs. High level. PR/IR would be aware.
  • TF: discussion on approach/strategy for services outside the GÉANT Membership - how International Relations can support the services, messages to give / not give, etc.

Understand the service objectives. Low uptake of eduroam and small but steady uptake of eduGAIN. More difficult for IA due to legal and financial implications. IR is not pushing, but following the approach of the service owners.
Does eduroam have targets/KPIs on uptake? eduroam is dealing with 'slow movers', this makes it harder to actively help them. UbunetNet: the regions are connected to eduroam, but the GeGC will have discussion on up-to-date support contacts. If there is a specific demand for help, there are resources. Hong Kong is a difficult case. Paul is in touch with AARNET. Tom suggests to contact Helga/David as well to push it from a non-technical angle. Paul is concerned that things might get too political. He will contact Helga.
From a GeGC perspective this would the responsibility of the region (now Hong Kong and AARNET), like UbuntuNet and WACREN.

  • add IR/PR list to the task list.

eduGAIN candidates nowadays contact us after regional training took place. Currently the training team is working on training for the UbuntuNet region. Co-funded by AC3.

  • Publishing training materials on eAcademy.

It's on the WP5 to-do list.

Marcomms is also working on promoting infoshares.
