Training Needs - describe what

you would like to achieve with the training

Karl and I should have TRANSITS and Disaster Comms training. We may wish to extend this to other members in the team.
  • Business Model Generation and Value Proposition
  • GEANT Service Information (need for better understanding of e.g. security services  which are in place at GEANT, who does this compare to the commercial market, why do we offer the services we offer…)
  • Always of course sth of interest is improving intercultural understanding but we discussed this previous year and I recall we could not find anything useful meeting our needs.

  1. A hands-on activity on working on/with through PLM gates.
  2. MPiVT rerun/advanced - some new TLs/STLs with a larger remit in GN4-2 have not done it yet
  3. GDPR and your services - how to define a privacy policy, optimise your design choices etc. for compliance with the GDPR

Help NRENs to improve skills in several cloud related areas:

SDN and TM Forum. IB has details

While the ITIL and next School for Developers and SecureCode trainings are still the strongest requirements from SA2, here are some additional trainings that the SA2 team would like to have:

  • GÉANT PLM process (that was already planned but unfortunately cancelled)
  • Formalisation of Business processes - BPMN with some extra TMF spice, for example Activiti https://university.alfresco.com/course/activiti-101. The training is aimed at SA2 people who are working on documenting and operationalising the processes used in production operations. The training could also be in interest of JRA2/T2. The content should be additionally discussed/detailed, but the training course we proposed is online self-paced course, that would be attended by upto 3 people from SA2.
  1. ITIL - Transition to Service
  2. TMF
  3. PerfSONAR

Provide more details & Possible Solutions

  1. PLM:

Emphasis on practical expertise w/ coaching and examples of practical experience. Business model/financial predictions/modelling is particularly the weakest currently.

Ops/SLA is well defined by SA2 but some refreshing is helpful.

Death-by-powerpoint to be avoided.

Participants should emerge feeling more confident in their ability to identify and prepare the important parts needed to move to pilots and production.

2. MPiVT rerun/advanced - some new TLs/STLs with a larger remit in GN4-2 have not done it yet

3. GDPR and your services - would apply to ANY GÉANT service, not just T&I. Would need a lot of background work to prepare, Paul Drake must be involved, SA2 consulted too.

  1. For T3 Service Managers
  2. As per SA1
  3. For GEANT OC, focussing on latest version

Proposed/ Recommended timeline

  1. PLM.  ASAP. Was already cancelled.
  2. During Y2
  3. GDPR is active in law by 25 May 2018. Compliance is not optional but it could take individual services several months to review and implement so starting asap to have training in 2017 is required.

Is this a REQUIRED training? Y/N

(The one that is mentioned as a deliverable in your activity)

  1. PLM. N, it is more important than that, it is about actually delivering for NRENs and users;)
  2. N, but helps achieve them
  3. GDPR compliance is required by law, not by EC deliverable;)
   No
