http://eumetsat.geant.net/eumet/ gives an Error 500 repsonse

Dbeacon creates and XML file, /var/lib/dbeacon/EUMET/dump.xml. If someone uses the characters '<' and '>' in the name of the beacon. The PERL program sees that as and xml tag and falls over.

<beacon name="<ENDSITE NAME>-CLIENT_EUMETSAT" contact="your@email.address" addr="62.40.104.234/44746" age="174753" rxlocal="true" lastupdate="0">

There are two option to rectify this:

1) Do a trace route of the IP Address and try and contact the owner asking them to rename their dbeacon

2) Ask the Network Operations team to put a firewall filter on the router to block Multicast traffic from the offending IP Address. (This is usually the quicker option (smile) )
