Title: Data sharing in education - trends and implications

The GÉANT Task Force for Educational Activities (TF-EDU) would like to invite you to a pre-NORDUnet Community Workshop focussing on both strategic opportunities and challenges, and sharing knowledge and best practice on practical issues related to the delivery of education, both nationally and globally.

Protecting data in the education system is of paramount importance, but it is by no means an easy task. The upcoming TF-EDU meeting presents a valuable opportunity to delve into the evolving landscape of the education sector and its endeavors to bolster digital data sharing. One notable facet of this evolution is the European regulation known as electronic identification, authentication, and trust services (eIDAS), which specifically addresses cross-border eID and Digital Identity Wallets.

During the meeting, two noteworthy projects, namely Digital Credentials for Europe (DC4EU) and Data Space for skills (DS4Skills), will enlighten us with their insights on the integration of microcredentials and digital credentials into wallets, and the intricate relationships that exist between them. By exploring these perspectives, we aim to foster a comprehensive understanding of how these credentials can be seamlessly integrated and how they mutually complement each other.

In this context, achieving interoperability emerges as a pivotal factor. By ensuring seamless compatibility and interaction between different systems, interoperability guarantees a smooth and user-friendly experience. Recognizing its significance, it has become a fundamental cornerstone in the development of future systems within the education sector.

The TF-EDU meeting provides an excellent platform for stakeholders to collaborate, exchange ideas, and collectively address the challenges and opportunities that arise in the quest to safeguard educational data while embracing the benefits of digitalization. By fostering dialogue and encouraging the sharing of best practices, we can collectively advance towards a secure and efficient educational ecosystem.
