  • First select the type of certificate that you want to apply tab

  • SSL Certificates (today we would TLS Certificates must say) are on servers.

  • Grid Certificates are intended for servers, but also clients who participate in the global e-Science Grid; In the past it was mostly about high-energy physics, but nowadays increasingly sciences where big-data is worked and for which many claim to be using it.

  • Client Certificates can be obtained in the Portal. We're still working on a self-service facility for end coupled to SURFconext as we were accustomed to in recent years with the Comodo service via https://mijncertificaat.surfnet.nl/ .

  • Code Signing Certificates Signing software (or objects); That can go on Java but also .dll files, drivers and so on.

  • Document Signing is about the signing of documents on behalf of an organization. If a person with his own name a document (in PDF) will sign it uses a Client Certificate. A Document Signing certificate is like an Extended Validation Code Signing certificate put on a FIPS 140-2 token. It is possible  é é n Aladdin eToken Pro 72K to combine the two certificates (Doc Sign and EV Codesign). The old 'blue stickje' with the SURFnet logo was a eToken Pro 3 2K; that is not useful for Document Signing. There is a set of screenshots available on request and install a Document Signing certificate. Ask if desired to meet scs-ra@surfnet.nl .
